Routine & Preventative Surgery

Desexing (Speying and Neutering)
Recommended for dogs, cats, rabbits, and pocket pets, desexing helps prevent unwanted litters and significantly reduces the risk of certain cancers, infections, and behavioural problems. It can also lead to a calmer temperament and may contribute to a longer, healthier life by minimising hormone-related health risks
Cats from $145 | Dogs from $260

Preventative Gastropexy
Prevents life-threatening stomach twisting (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus or GDV) in at-risk dog breeds, such as Great Danes, Boxers, and German Shepherds, by securing the stomach in place and reducing the risk of it rotating—a condition that can cause severe pain, rapid deterioration, and even death without emergency surgery.
Done at the time of desexing: Females from $400 | Males from $600

BOAS Surgery
Improves breathing and quality of life for flat-faced breeds such as Bulldogs, Pugs, and French Bulldogs by correcting obstructed airways caused by Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS). This procedure helps reduce snoring, heat intolerance, and breathing difficulties, allowing your dog to breathe comfortably and stay active.
from $3,350

Dental Surgery
Includes extractions and oral surgery for pets suffering from advanced dental disease, broken teeth, infections, or oral injuries. These procedures help relieve pain, prevent the spread of infection, and improve your pet’s ability to eat and enjoy life. Addressing dental issues promptly can also reduce the risk of related health problems affecting the heart, kidneys, and other organs.
From $550

Soft Tissue Surgery

Our skilled veterinary team provides a full range of soft tissue surgeries to treat a variety of conditions, from minor concerns to urgent health issues.

Tumor & Lump Removal
Surgical removal of lumps, growths, and masses to protect your pet’s health and comfort. All removed tissue can be sent for histopathology (laboratory analysis) to determine whether the lump is benign or malignant, helping guide any further treatment if needed.

Wound Repair & Trauma Surgery
We provide expert surgical care for pets suffering from wounds, lacerations, or trauma. Whether caused by an accident, a bite, or another injury, we assess the full extent of the damage, clean and repair the wound, and manage infection risk to promote faster healing. In more severe cases, reconstructive techniques may be used to restore form and function.

Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery
Chronic ear infections, breathing issues, and throat obstructions can greatly affect your pet’s comfort and quality of life. Using advanced imaging and precise surgical planning, we diagnose and treat these conditions to improve your pet’s health, comfort, and overall well-being.

Abdominal Surgery
Our vets are highly experienced in a wide range of abdominal surgeries. This includes removing ingested foreign objects, removing bladder stones, correcting gastrointestinal blockages, and performing biopsies of internal organs. Abdominal surgery often plays a critical role in diagnosing and treating underlying health conditions, and we provide thorough pre- and post-operative care to ensure a smooth recovery.

Orthopaedic Surgery

At WellPet Vets, we provide expert orthopaedic care to help pets recover from injuries and manage joint conditions, improving their mobility and quality of life.

Fracture Repair
Broken bones can be painful and, if not treated correctly, can heal poorly. We offer advanced fracture repair using surgical techniques such as bone plating, pinning, and external fixation. Every fracture is carefully assessed with X-rays, and a treatment plan is tailored to your pet’s specific injury to ensure the best possible healing and return to normal function.

Cruciate Ligament Surgery
Injury to the cruciate ligament (similar to an ACL tear in humans) is a common cause of lameness in dogs. We perform several types of cruciate surgery, including TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) and extracapsular stabilisation, depending on the pet’s size, age, and needs. Our goal is to restore stability to the knee, reduce pain, and help your pet return to an active, happy life.

Joint Surgery
Joint problems like luxating patellas (dislocating kneecaps) and hip dysplasia can cause chronic pain and affect your pet’s ability to move comfortably. Our experienced surgeons offer corrective procedures to realign joints, improve stability, and minimise long-term arthritis. Early surgical intervention can make a significant difference in your pet’s lifelong comfort and mobility.

Emergency and Critical Care Surgery

When your pet is facing an urgent medical issue, time is critical. At WellPet Vets, we offer emergency and critical care surgeries to address life-threatening conditions, ensuring your pet receives the best care in their moment of need.

Caesarean Sections (C-Sections)
In some cases, a mother may experience complications during labour, and a C-section is necessary to safely deliver her puppies or kittens. Our experienced veterinary team is prepared to perform emergency caesarean sections, providing quick intervention to ensure the health and safety of both mother and babies. We use advanced anaesthesia and monitoring to keep both animals stable during the procedure.

Emergency Abdominal Surgery
Abdominal emergencies such as internal bleeding, gastrointestinal blockages, or twisted stomachs (GDV) require immediate surgical attention. We are fully equipped to perform life-saving abdominal surgeries, including foreign body removal, intestinal surgery, and bladder stone removal. These conditions can be extremely painful and dangerous, but with fast intervention, we can give your pet the best chance for recovery.

Emergency Wound and Trauma Surgery
Traumatic injuries such as dog fights, accidents, or severe wounds require prompt care. We provide immediate surgical intervention for deep lacerations, puncture wounds, fractures, or burns. After assessing the extent of the injury, we ensure that the wound is properly cleaned, repaired, and managed to reduce infection and promote healing. For complex trauma, we may also use reconstructive techniques to restore your pet’s appearance and function.

Anaesthesia and Pain Management

At WellPet Vets, we take the safety and comfort of your pet very seriously during any surgical procedure. Our advanced anaesthesia and pain management protocols are designed to keep your pet as comfortable as possible throughout their surgery and recovery.

Individual Anaesthetic Plans

Every pet is unique, and so is their anaesthetic needs. Before any surgery, we create a tailored anaesthesia plan based on your pet’s age, breed, health status, and the type of procedure being performed. This ensures that the anaesthetic drugs used are the safest and most appropriate for your pet, minimising any risk and ensuring a smooth procedure.

Advanced Monitoring

Throughout the anaesthesia process, your pet is carefully monitored using state-of-the-art equipment. This includes continuous tracking of heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen levels, blood pressure, and temperature. Our trained staff is on hand to make adjustments as needed, ensuring that your pet stays stable and comfortable at all times.

Pain Relief

Pain management is a key part of our surgical care. We begin pain relief before the surgery starts, using pre-emptive analgesia to reduce discomfort both during and after the procedure. During surgery, your pet may receive local anaesthetics, regional blocks, or general anaesthesia to ensure they feel no pain. After surgery, we continue to manage pain through a combination of oral medications and injectable pain relief.

Post-Surgery Recovery & Care

We closely monitor your pet’s recovery after surgery, ensuring that they are comfortable and stable. Our pain management doesn’t stop once the surgery is over; we provide ongoing support, adjusting medications as needed and giving you instructions for managing your pet’s pain at home. We also give guidance on things like activity levels, wound care, and signs of discomfort to watch for, ensuring a smooth recovery process.
